We partnered with a global med-tech firm to design a handheld spirometer for real-time respiratory assessment, aimed at both clinical and home use. The goal was to develop a compact, user-friendly device capable of measuring vital lung parameters such as FEV1, FVC, and peak flow — with a focus on accuracy, hygiene, and ease of use. The challenge was to balance clinical-grade performance with a lightweight, ergonomic design, optimized for repeated use in diverse environments.
• Compact, Handheld Form Factor
Streamlined for portability and single-hand operation, with contours that naturally fit both pediatric and adult hands.
• Digital Display & Button Layout
High-contrast screen and tactile buttons for quick readings, reset, and Bluetooth pairing for data sync.
• Removable Nozzle & Flow Channel
Designed for hygiene and reusability — easy to sterilize or replace, with support for disposable mouthpieces.
• Battery-Efficient Electronics Housing
Optimized for long-term use with low-power components and USB charging support.
• Smart Connectivity Ready
Optional Bluetooth/Wi-Fi module for real-time sync with health tracking apps or hospital records.
We conducted in-depth ergonomic studies and worked closely with healthcare professionals to validate hand grip, screen visibility, and user interaction.
The 3D model was created in SolidWorks and refined for injection mould-ready production, followed by airflow simulations to ensure internal channel geometry met clinical accuracy standards.
Prototypes were created using SLA and high-resolution FDM printing, with precision inserts for sensor placement, before field validation in clinical settings.
The final design was delivered as a fully functional prototype and production-ready CAD package, now being rolled out for pre-clinical trials and global regulatory certification. The spirometer reflects our expertise in designing health-focused, ergonomically sound medical products that meet stringent accuracy and usability demands.
